Q&A #5: Do I Need Medication?

A pill a day keeps the doctor away! Does this mean you MUST take medication to cure your depression? Not necessarily. Depending on the severity of your depression, medication may not be necessary.

You may be able to defeat and control your depression through counseling, diet, exercise, and good physical health.

However, there are times when depression is so profound, anti-depressants are necessary to reset the balance of those neurotransmitters I mentioned in an earlier blog post. Here’s the good news. If you do take anti-depressants, you may only have to take them for a short period of time.

But, if you take nothing away from this Q&A today, remember, NEVER stop taking your anti-depressants abruptly! NEVER! Going cold turkey off of anti-depressants can have very dangerous side effects. This is why you should always have a good doctor to take care of this side of your depression. Make sure and read the Physician Fact for today for more information.
